The Marblehead Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the United States side of the Great Lakes. Commissioned six years after the War of 1812, it has guided sailors safely along the rocky shores of the Marblehead Peninsula since 1822. The 73-foot tall structure is one of the most photographed light houses in the Great lakes. In 2010, The Dependable Painting Company chemically removed the previous coating and painted the lantern (the upper, red part of the structure) and the railings.
